What is Kratom, you ask? Kratom is a tree native to Thailand that has been a herbal remedy there for thousands of years! Mitragyna speciosa also known as ketum or kratom, leaves were chewed by the people of Thailand for energy, mood enhancement and pain relief.
Though you probably won't find kratom at your local supplement store it's becoming more and more available as people are discovering it's benefits throughout the world. In fact, it works so well that the Thailand government had outlawed Kratom 70 years ago because it cut down on their opium tax revenues. Since the tree is native it has been impossible to regulate this law and they are now thinking of decriminalizing this herb. Though the FDA in the US has not made any claims (good or bad) some states have or are thinking of regulating kratom so you may want to check your state laws before ordering any.
Dealing with chronic neck pain for years, I thought it was worth a shot and by george, it does work for me! There are many strains of kratom and I find the Thai Kratom works best for me. It not only relieves some pain but it also gives me energy and an overall feeling of well being.
What is kratom used for besides pain relief, stamina and mood?
Though kratom is not an opiate, it does act like one so it's becoming widely used as a way to ease opiate withdrawal. Dependence on prescription pain relievers has become a major problem. I'm sure each of you reading this know one or more persons who is addicted, whether you realize it or not. Kratom is not an opiate so it is not physically addictive and does not have the terrible side effects (such as liver damage) of prescription opiates but use at your own risk.
Some other beneficial claims people have made are is it's relaxing and sedative effects at higher doses. They say smaller doses are more energizing and larger ones more relaxing and promoting to better sleep but every body is different so you'd just have to see what works for you.
I leave it up to you to do further research and I hope you'll return and share what you've learned!
