Spicy Massage Oil Recipe
Here's an old spicy massage oil recipe that's great for sore muscles or just utter relaxation! Tried and true! The sage helps rejuvenate sore muscles and the lemon essential oil awakens the senses. Perfect for that hard working man or woman in your life!
Ingredients for the spicy massage oil are:
- 2 cups sweet almond oil (Olive oil works too!)
- 1/2 ounce dried sage or 1 ounce fresh sage leaves.
- 4 drops lemon essential oil or the rind of one fresh lemon. Try to get only the yellow part of the rind.
By using the olive oil and the fresh lemon instead of the almond oil and essential oil this turns into a completely edible massage oil recipe! :)
Combine the oil of your choice and the sage (lemon peel also if you're using that instead of essential oil) in a saucepan and bring to a slow, rolling boil using as little high heat as possible then simmer for 10 minutes.
After it's cooled, strain out the sage and add the lemon essential oil. This recipe makes one pint and should be stored in a dark colored, glass jar or bottle. A small sterilized wine bottle would be perfect!
