Correct this and make a better day!

Not eating breakfast is a terrible way to start the day! I know, you've heard this over and over but here goes...Eat something, no matter how small for breakfast! This is an easy task for some people and very difficult for others, including me. I now eat at least a piece of toast with peanut butter or cinnamon and honey. We've all heard it before, breakfast, breakfast, breakfast but there is good reasoning behind it.

  1. Your body is more than ready to burn up those calories and put them to good use after fasting all night! Protein foods are a good choice.
  2. As your body burns those calories you'll have more energy throughout the day hence your mind will be more focused to get things done more efficiently.
  3. You'll be less hungry when lunch comes around and you'll be much less likely to crave all that 'in between' junk food.

When the above three reasons come into play, what happens? Weight loss! If your not eating breakfast your body starts to store away any fat it has in reserve just in case it may need it later. Of course, the quality of the food you're eating factors into the equation also but more on that in another guide.

Breakfast Tip - Bananas

Did you know the bananas contain tryptophane, a protein that converts to serotonin? Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that produces a feeling of calm. Yep, just like turkey! They also contain B-complex vitamins which also help calm the nervous system. Great anti-stress food!

Best Breakfast Food Tip

If you want a seriously healthy breakfast this smoothie recipe beats them all! You'll be surprised how good it tastes. Yes, you will taste the greens somewhat but the flavor is mostly fruit. Get your blender ready!

Directions for a simple and super healthy breakfast:

  • Take a good handful of fresh, dark greens such as spinach, kale or swiss chard and throw it in your blender. Spinach is a good starting green.
  • Next pick two handfuls of your favorite fruit or fruit combination and add them to the blender. Try bananas, strawberries, peaches, blueberries, whatever your favorite fruits might be.
  • Add 1 cup of water and blend until smooth
  • Gulp and enjoy! You may even be able to get the kids to drink this!

It's said that by breaking down the greens our bodies can absorb many more nutrients from them than we would get from a salad. Try this for at least a couple days and see if your energy levels doesn't soar!

Nutrition is an important part of a holistic lifestyle so breakfast is your Life Guide #2!
