NATURAL HAIR REMEDIES
Food for your hair!

These natural hair remedies have been around a long time because they work! Give your hair nourishment just as you do for your body and it will thank you by being full, glossy and beautiful. Use once or twice a week.

RINSES are one of the fastest and easiest natural hair remedies. After shampooing and conditioning use one of these rinses to add body and shine to your lockes! Leave on for just a couple minutes and follow with a second quick, cool water rinse.

  • BEER - Flat beer is fine! Pour on all that protein and rinse thoroughly with cool water.
  • APPLE CIDER VINEGAR - Add 1/2 cup vinegar to 2 cups water. Give your hair a nice shine!
  • MILK - Use as much as you need to saturate, leave on a couple minutes and rinse. More protein!
  • LEMON - Use the juice from 1/2 of one lemon and add to 2 cups water for your rinse. (If you want golden highlights, leave it on and sit in the sun for 30 minutes before rinsing!)
  • BAKING SODA - For soft hair mix a good sized pinch of baking soda with a small amount of shampoo. Wash hair as you normally would. This will remove build up from your hair and scalp and leave it remarkably soft!

CHAMOMILE RINSE FOR BLONDE HAIR - Chamomile is a wonderful conditioner for both the scalp and hair. It brings out blonde highlights and will lighten hair with consistent use. Pour 4 cups boiling water over 1 cup dried or fresh chamomile flowers. Cover and let stand until cool. Strain and use as a final rinse.

HOMEMADE HAIR TREATMENTS require more time but they are so worth it! Apply any of the following, enough to saturate and leave on for 20-30 minutes. Cover your head with a towel or shower cap to hold in heat during the process and then shampoo as normal. These are much easier to apply if your hair is at least slightly damp first.

  • DRY HAIR HOME REMEDIES - Use any of the following oils for this treatment. Heat a half pan of water over the stove until very warm but not boiling. Remove from heat. Put about 1/4 cup of your choice below in a glass or small bowl. Immerse the bowl in the pan of water and let stand until the oil is warm then apply to head and leave on as directed above. These are also great home remedies for frizzy hair!
    -Extra Virgin Olive Oil
    -Jojoba Oil
    -Sweet Almond Oil
    -Virgin Coconut Oil
    -Apricot Kernel Oil
  • Oh yeah, one of my favorites products for my dry frizzy hair is Acure Organics Moroccan Argon Oil. A few drops makes my hair smooth and silky. A great product!

  • The next natural hair remedies are used the same way but there is no reason to heat.
-Honey (for blondes as it may slightly lighten hair)
    -Molasses is good for brunettes
    -Pure Maple Syrup
    -Mashed Avocado
    -Real Mayonnaise (not Miracle Whip!)
These may sound very messy but they actually apply easily to damp hair and wash out nicely. All these natural goodies are loaded with nutrients and minerals that make wonderful homemade hair treatments!

The above hair care remedies are good for any hair type and so are the tips below.

  • Unless you use a lot of styling products there is no need to shampoo every day. Cut down to every other day and use an organic shampoo. A conditioner is fine for every day use.
  • Always do your final rinse with cool water! Hot water dries out your hair and your skin!
  • Limit hair dryer use!
  • For frizzy hair, use one of the oils listed above and rub a thin coat into your hands and then through your hair.
  • Place 1 or 2 drops of rosemary essential oil on your hair brush before brushing to promote growth and thickness.

GRAY HAIR TIP - Gray hair is caused by a mineral deficiency and it is said that drinking this mineral rich tonic daily can restore your hair to its natural color. (diabetics should not consume honey)

  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon black strap molasses
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

Mix in a glass of warm water. Cheers! If this doesn't restore your hair color it will definitely give you an energy boost!
