Honey Benefits Health and Beauty

Bees Love Clover!

There are many ways honey benefits health and beauty. Honey remedies have been used for centuries! In fact honey is an ancient Hebrew word meaning "enchant". An enchanting natural remedy it is! Not only is it a wonderful sweetener but it contains many healing properties as well.

Honey is made up of fructose, glucose, beeswax, water, pollen, enzymes and proteins. It has very little pesticides or other toxins because exposed bees usually die before returning to the hive. One more good reason to stop using all those yard and garden chemicals! We need bees to pollinate our flowers and important food crops including fruits and vegetables.

Honey benefits health best when you purchase locally made honey and is usually available in the health food section of your supermarket or the farmers market. (If you wish to purchase the very best honey, Manuka honey is said to be the best in the world. Manuka Honey is produced by New Zealand bees that collect nectar from the Manuka Bush or Tea Tree and for this reason has added benefits.) Honey can be used for cooking also but keep in mind that heat will destroy a lot of the beneficial properties.

***Apitherapy is the term used for any kind of honey treatment. Let's learn some apitherapy for both health and beauty!
