Homemade Drain Cleaners

Commercial drain cleaners are not only expensive but are dangerous and toxic. Here's my recipe for homemade drain cleaners that not only simple but cheap and it really does work in most cases.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 to 1 cup white
    vinegar


  • 1/4 cup
    baking soda (not baking powder!)


  • A kettle of very hot water


Now...


  1. Pour the baking soda into the slow or clogged drain


  2. Next, pour the vinegar in and check out the foaming and fizzing action!


  3. After the fizzing has died down flush the drain with the hot water. (You may have to repeat the procedure for tough clogs)


This is also a great way to naturally disinfect and deodorize your garbage disposal. Follow up by grinding up a lemon wedge or two for a fresh lemon scent. Lemon is also a great natural disinfectant!

You should now have a clean, disinfected drain without using dangerous household chemicals! Feels good doesn't it? You're not only keeping your home green but the planet as well!
