I recently read a tick repellent recipe and had to try. It was hard to say if worked for wood ticks but I can verify it works great to repel deer flys!
It was simply 6 ounces of water, 2 ounces of vodka, 30 drops of eucalyptus essential oil and 30 drops of lemongrass essential oil.
An 8 ounce glass spray bottle will be perfect!
First add the vodka. This is not an exact science so measurements don't have to be perfect but add the vodka first and then the essential oils.
Shake super well! If you don't have vodka you can use witch hazel, any other type of alcohol or even vinegar. You want something the essential oils will bind with. Remember oil and water don't mix!
Shake super well!
Shake like crazy!
Now top of with the water. (purified water is best because it doesn't eventually clog your sprayer)
Shake super-duper well!
Spray on exposed body parts then let the deer and horse flys take a sniff and move on!
Don't forget to shake like crazy before each use :-)
