Charcoal for Fluid Sack?

My two year old St.Bernard dog has fluid sacks on his elbows, Has any one tried a charcoal Poultice on these?

I have never tried using charcoal for a fluid sack but it sure won't hurt to try. Activated charcoal has done some amazing things!
