We started discussing the body n mind connection while I was at a friends shop hanging out as I had many times and John pointed to a yellowed handwritten letter hanging on his cluttered bulletin board. After reading it, I asked him who had written it and he told me the story of a man named Lynn Henningsgard.
Apparently Lynn abandoned his job and in search of happiness and spiritual well being became a nomad and hermit who stopped in to chat with my friend, John, every few years. John says he was a kind soul and a very interesting man who wandered here and there. Lynn spent a couple years living in a teepee and another couple years living in a two story shack the size of an outhouse. This is even more surprising when you realize he was doing this in the northern woods of Minnesota!
They say people who live this spiritual way (as most of our spiritual leaders have) are open to insights that the rest of us are not. The yellowed handwritten note with a date of 1987, correlates diseases of the body with dis-ease of the mind reminding me of Louise Hay's book, You Can Heal Your Life, which also discusses the body n mind connection.
Mr. Lynn Henningsgard has passed from this world but I thought his handwritten note about mind body dualism should be shared with you and with permission from his friend, John, here it is...
